DNS Negative Caching in the Wild

About the Project

Joint work with Tel-Aviv University professor Anat Bremler-Barr and PhD students Lior Shafir,  Neta Peleg, and Matan Sabag.
We are measuring what percentage of DNS recursive resolvers perform negative caching in the wild. We are deploying our own authoritative name server and harnessing thousands of RIPE Atlas sites spread over the globe to perform repeated DNS queries for non-existing sub-domains of our authoritative domain.
